UPDATE: Semi-truck involved crash sends 3 to hospital, all lanes reopen on I-75 southbound

VANDALIA — UPDATE @ 7:14 pm.:

Three people were sent to the hospital after a serious multiple vehicle crash that involved two semi trucks early Tuesday evening.

The current status of their injuries is not known at this time.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash initially started with two vehicles trying to avoid debris in the road, causing them to rear-end into one another. This caused a semi-truck to stop for the crash but another semi-truck to crash into it causing a pile up that shut down I-75 southbound.

All lanes on I-75 southbound near Vandalia are now open.

INITIAL REPORT

Emergency crews are responding to a crash involving multiple vehicles on I-75 southbound near Vandalia.

According to dispatch reports, the crash happened just before 5:30 p.m.

There are reports of 5 vehicles involved with traffic backed up past National Road.

Dispatch confirmed that three people were injured have been transported to local hospitals.

The condition of their injuries is not known at this time.
