Coronavirus: What’s Next for Ohio? Kings Island cancels 2 events because of ‘uncertainties’

MASON — Kings Island is canceling Halloween Haunt and WinterFest this year because of the ongoing uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager, said in an update posted Tuesday evening.

Koontz said the park’s new health and safety measures were supported by everyone who has visited the park, and park associates have gone above and beyond expectations in creating a safe environment for families, but operating constraints in the region forced the changes.

Kings Island will continue to operate through Nov. 1 on select days, he said.

An all-new family event, Tricks and Treats Fall Fest, is scheduled to begin Sept. 26 featuring rides, food, entertainment and activities. This event will enable social distancing and capacity management, he said, and more information about it will be released in the coming weeks.

All 2020 Season Passes and add-on products have been extended through the 2021 season.

“We’re looking forward to a great year ahead,” Koontz said.

Gold and Platinum Season Passes for 2021 go on sale beginning Sept. 8, 2020, according to the update.
