Coronavirus: Positive test scuttles Waynesville High School homecoming parade

WAYNESVILLE — A confirmed positive COVID-19 test in the Waynesville High School athletic department prompted the district to cancel the 2020 homecoming parade, which was scheduled for tonight, Wayne Local Schools Superintendent Patrick Dubbs said.

“Based on the guidance and direction of the Warren County Health Department, we are initiating a social tracing process. For this reason we believe it’s best to cancel tonight’s homecoming parade,” he said in response to questions from WHIO.

Dubbs said the athletes that are most directly affected have already been notified and will remain home tomorrow [Thursday] morning and school personnel will be in contact with families to give further guidance.

“At this time our school buildings will remain open,” he said.

According to the varsity football schedule, Carlisle (2-2 overall) visits Waynesville (4-1) this Friday at 7 p.m.
