Coronavirus: A Centerville acapella group’s performance goes viral

CENTERVILLE — While teachers across Ohio are working to teach their kids remotely, a Centerville choir director used his students to spread messages of hope.

Forte A Capella, a choir group at Centerville High School, is holding class remotely during the stay-at-home order. Their most recent video, titled Bigger Picture, was done by each singer remotely and has gone viral.

“Everybody has to record, but you have to have a timing track so everybody is on the same time and tempo, and then they recorded and then we do the video," explained choir director Ben Spalding.

The group learned the song months ago but thought this was the perfect time to create a video.

“The fact that we’re not in school doing this work is very different compared to being at home and on our computers," said junior Mitchell Goecke.

The song has gone so viral that one of the lead singers of the original song tweeted the video out.

This video’s success has inspired the group to create another video that they hope to release next week.
