ROSS TWP., Greene County — UPDATE @ 1:30 p.m. (Oct. 20):

Three people were hospitalized after a vehicle involved in a brief pursuit near Jamestown crashed and overturned into a field late Sunday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

An officer reported a vehicle was traveling over 100 mph on South Charleston Road north of U.S. 35 around 10:40 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle crashed and overturned on South Charleston Road near Paullin Road shortly after the officer called-off the pursuit, according to initial reports.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Gavin Grooms, 19, of Jamestown and one of the passengers, Allen Williams, 20, of Wilmington, were injured and transported by CareFlight medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries initially deemed as life threatening, investigators said. A spokesperson for the hospital said both Grooms and Williams have since been treated and discharged from the hospital as of Tuesday afternoon.

The second passenger, Megan Snider, 18, of Jamestown, was taken by ground ambulance to Kettering Medical Center in Kettering and is listed in serious condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Grooms is facing preliminary charges of aggravated vehicular assault and possession of drug paraphernalia, state troopers said. Additional charges are pending and could by filed by Jamestown police.

A vehicle involved in a brief high-speed pursuit was involved in a rollover crash on South Charleston Road north of Jamestown late Sunday night, according to initial reports.

The crash was reported around 10:40 p.m. on South Charleston Road near Paullin Road.

Initial reports indicate a Jamestown police officer briefly pursed a vehicle that was traveling over 100 mph on South Charleston Road. The officer called-off his pursuit before reporting the vehicle overturned and ended up in a field, according to emergency scanner traffic.

Three people were inside the vehicle when the crash happened. At least one CareFlight medical helicopter was requested to take victims to area hospitals. However, the conditions of those injured in the crash were not immediately known.
