2 adults arrested, jailed in shooting of juvenile in Richmond, Indiana

RICHMOND, Indiana — A Richmond, Indiana, man and woman remain in the Wayne County Jail on charges accusing them in the shooting of a 17-year-old on May 26.

Dorian Gordon, 20, is being detained on a charge of battery while Kaylee Jo Smith, 19, is detained on a charge of aiding and inducing in the incident, Richmond Police Department officials said in a prepared statement.

Police arrested Gordon and Smith on Tuesday, stemming from the incident reported in the 700 block of Hilldell Avenue. Police were dispatched to that address about 8:40 p.m. on May 26 on a report of a shooting.

Officers located the 17-year-old, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks. According to the investigation, the shooting occurred during an altercation involving several people. The juvenile was reportedly in stable condition at Reid Health, according to the police department.
