— Just show up, and Young’s promises to provide the fun.
Young’s Dairy has a ton of extra fun planned for Memorial Day weekend this year in the form of a carnival on the dairy farm grounds.
In addition to the carnival rides, Young’s other operations will all be open during their regular hours this weekend. So if Ferris wheels and merry-go-rounds aren’t your thing, you can get a meal at the Golden Jersey Inn, hit the mini-golf course or batting cages at Udders & Putters, and top it all off with a delicious ice cream cone from the Dairy Store.
Here are 7 ways to make the most of Memorial Day weekend at Young’s Dairy.
The dairy farm will set up carnival rides in the gravel lot north of the dairy store today through Monday.
Tickets are $1 each, though the number of tickets per ride varies. You can also receive an all-day pass to the carnival for $20. These passes are valid for the carnival only, not for Young’s regular entertainment.
Young’s has two farm-themed 18-hole miniature golf courses (Udders & Putters), plus a driving range with 40 natural grass tees and 20 artificial grass tees.
The original course was built in 1993 and is nicknamed “Greener Pastures.” It is considered the more challenging of the two courses.
The newer course, “Barnyard Blitz” was built in 2000.
The cost is $1.75 age 4 and younger, $6.25 per game for ages 5-11 and $7.25 for ages 12 and up.
MINI GOLF DEALS: Save $1 a game weekday mornings and afternoons before 6 p.m. Play both courses for $3 more per person.
The cost for the driving range is $6.50 for a small bucket (approximately 40 balls), $8.75 for a medium bucket (approximately 70 balls), $10.95 for a large bucket (approximately 100 balls) and $15.25 for a jumbo bucket (approximately 150 balls).
Young’s offers batting cage features five hardball, three slow-pitch softball, and one fast-pitch softball lanes. The cost is 12 pitches per token for $1.50. You can purchase 4 tokens for $5 or 10 tokens for $10.
Take a ride down Cowvin’s Fast Slide, a fun addition to excitement at Young’s. This three-lane slide is located between the batting cages and the driving range, and the cost is one ride per token for $1.50. You can purchase 4 tokens for $5 or 10 tokens for $10.
Moovers & Shakers is the fun train ride for kids and adults alike. The 5-10 barrel passenger train rides around the farm all spring, summer and fall. The cost is $2.50 per ride or 3 rides for $6.
Walk over to the barn to say hello to cows, goats and other farm animals. Stop by between 4:30 to 5:30 to watch a Young family member milk the cows and answer any questions you may have. Walk up and pet the friendly farm animals...just be careful when you pet the goats. They might try to steal a bite of your ice cream!
Speaking of ice cream, top off your visit with a cup or cone of Young’s homemade ice cream and the best ice cream in Dayton, as determined by the Best of Dayton contest. Choose from a variety of different flavors, learn how the ice cream is made, and check out their flavors of the week. It’s the perfect treat to end your day at the farm.
