It wasn’t a heart attack that cut short Aerosmith’s 2017 tour, but band frontman Steven Tyler still won’t say exactly what caused the band to cancel dates in Mexico and South America.

Tyler said he had to have a medical procedure that only his doctor who is located in the United States could perform, The Associated Press reported.

He said that he “certainly did not have a heart attack or seizure” in a statement posted to the band’s website.

Last week, Tyler announced via Twitter that the band was going to cancel stops in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico.

Joe Jackson tweets after reports of terminal cancer diagnosis: ‘the sun sets when the time comes’

Published: Friday, June 22, 2018 @ 12:42 PM
Updated: Sunday, June 24, 2018 @ 6:01 PM

What You Need to Know: Joe Jackson

UPDATE June 24:

After reports emerged that Joe Jackson had cancer and not much longer to live, the Jackson family patriarch appears to have commented on the matter himself.

“I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see,” he tweeted Sunday with a photo of himself against a sunset. “The sun rises when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes.”

ORIGINAL STORY, June 22:

Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson family, doesn’t have much longer to live, according to one of his sons, Jermaine Jackson.

According to the Daily Mail, Joe Jackson, 88, has an “undisclosed terminal illness” and his family members alleged that his handlers are not allowing them to see him. TMZ reported that he is in a hospital with terminal cancer.

“No one knew what was going on -- we shouldn’t have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this,” Jermaine Jackson told the Daily Mail. “We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn’t get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.”

Jermaine Jackson said family members just want to be near their patriarch during this time.

“He’s very very frail. He doesn’t have long. The family needs to be by his bedside -- that’s our only intention in his final days,” he said.

According to the Daily Mail, Jackson family matriarch Katherine, her daughters Rebbie and Joh'Vonnie and Rebbie’s daughter Yashi Brown were able to visit Joe Jackson in Las Vegas Tuesday. TMZ reported that Katherine Jackson and some children and grandchildren were able to come by for a hospital visit. It is not clear from the Daily Mail’s report if family members visited Joe Jackson at his Las Vegas home, at the hospital or both.

The British tabloid claims that, according to a source close to Janet Jackson, she has also been denied access to her father.

No other members of the Jackson family have publicly commented on the reports.

Paris Jackson comments on grandfather Joe Jackson’s health, says he did not tweet message

Published: Monday, June 25, 2018 @ 12:00 AM

What You Need to Know: Joe Jackson

Paris Jackson, the only daughter of the late singer Michael Jackson, has commented on reports about the health of her grandfather, Joe Jackson.

According to reports, the Jackson family patriarch has terminal cancer. One of his sons, Jermaine Jackson, told the Daily Mail that Joe Jackson is “very, very frail.”

“He doesn’t have long,” Jermaine Jackson told the British gossip outlet.

Seemingly in response to the reports, Joe Jackson posted a photo and message on Twitter on Sunday.

“I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see,” the tweet read. “The sun rises when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes.”

Paris Jackson expressed skepticism at the post, tweeting hours later, “This is a beautiful tweet. Though it upsets me to see whoever is in charge of this account taking advantage of it. My grandfather did not tweet this. I’m not sure if he’s ever used this account.”

Prior to that tweet, Paris Jackson said she was “blessed to have a family that comes together the way the Jacksons do.”

She ended her comments on her grandfather with a message of gratitude.

“Thank you all for the love you’ve sent during this time,” she wrote.
