'SNL' takes aim at R. Kelly with parody of Gayle King interview

A Timeline of Events: R. Kelly Sexual Abuse Allegations

"Saturday Night Live" took aim at singer R. Kelly this week, mocking a recent interview in which he denied allegations that he sexually abused women and girls.

In Saturday's cold open, Leslie Jones, playing CBS News' Gayle King, grilled Kenan Thompson's incoherent Kelly, who asked to be called "victim."

"I am not going to do that," Jones said.

Between questions, Thompson's Kelly periodically burst into song in a parody of "Trapped in the Closet." 

"It's 10 o'clock in the morning, and I’m talking to Oprah's friend," Thompson sang. "If I can just get through this, everybody’s gonna love me again."

Thompson-as-Kelly also slammed the Lifetime documentary "Surviving R. Kelly," saying the series made him seem like "the devil."

"And even if I was, you can't think of one nice thing to say about the devil?" he said. "I can: nice horns, gives good advice."

Thompson's Kelly eventually stood and began shouting. 

"Guys, think for a minute. Use your brains! Why would I do these things?" he asked. "For 30 years, I gave y'all 'Trapped in the Closet,' 'Feelin' On Yo Booty,' 'Age Ain't Nothing but a Number' and so many other clues, and this is how you repay me?"
