— Frito-Lay is searching for a new Dayton-area distribution location after its center off Troy Street and Kelly Avenue was destroyed in the Memorial Day tornadoes.
“With the recent tornadoes in the Dayton, Ohio area, the local Frito-Lay distribution center was damaged beyond repair,” the company said in an e-mail in response to questions from this news outlet.
“Fortunately, Frito-Lay was able to relocate its operations that were managed by the Dayton distribution center temporarily to two other company locations nearby,” the company added. “With the help of local Frito-Lay associates and company leadership, we have been able to fully reestablish original distribution routes to the area.”
The company also said it is actively searching for a new permanent location for the Frito-Lay distribution center locally.
“Frito-Lay is proud to be a part of the Dayton community and looks forward to continuing to serve the Dayton area,” the company said.
We asked a company representative for more information about where the company is looking and how many employees worked at the center. This story will be updated.
Old North Dayton, where the center was located, was among the areas hardest hit by the tornadoes which tore through the region two weeks ago.
