If you used a debit or credit card at any one of more than 300 Sonic Drive-In locations a couple of years ago, you may be eligible for compensation as part of a new class-action settlement.
Sonic Drive-In has entered into a settlement stemming from a data breach of point-of-sale systems at some 325 locations throughout the country. The breach was originally announced in 2017.
Without admitting any wrongdoing, the fast-food chain is ready to pony up for affected consumers in an effort to end the lawsuit.
If you used a debit or credit card at any of these locations across more than 30 states from April 7, 2017, through October 28, 2017, you can request compensation — whether or not you have a receipt.
There are two settlement categories under which you may qualify:
You’ll receive approximately $40 if you made a purchase by debit or credit and did have subsequent fraudulent activity on your card any time thereafter up through February 28, 2018.
However, if that fraudulent activity occurred after that date, you’ll only be eligible for approximately $10.
You’ll receive approximately $10 if you made a purchase, but did not have any subsequent fraudulent activity on your debit or credit card.
Just be sure to file by the April 19, 2019 deadline! A hearing will be held on July 25, 2019 to decide whether or not to approve the settlement.
