Fuyao Glass America has created a relief fund for employees, making available grants of up to $3,000 to employees who find themselves in need due to sudden emergencies.

The fund is “the first employee hardship relief fund created through The Dayton Foundation. The fund will provide financial assistance grants directly to (Fuyao Glass America) employees during times of hardship or disaster,” the foundation said Friday.

Established by a contribution from Fuyao, the fund will provide a “structured way” for the company to help employees after experiencing financial difficulties due to situations such as the loss or destruction of a home, medical expenses caused by severe illness or accident or death of an employee’s immediate family member, the foundation said.

Foundation President Michael Parks said the fund will “help one of the region’s largest employers to offer charitable support to its employees and their families when it is needed most.”

Eligible employees can apply for a one-time grant ranging from $500 to $3,000, the foundation said. Grants will be awarded on an “as-needed basis” and approved by an independent Dayton Foundation committee.

“We hope the hardship fund will provide the much-needed support to our employees when they face unexpected setbacks,” said Sunny Sun, chairwoman of Fuyao International.
