— General Electric Aviation has been awarded a $250,000,000 “indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity” (IDIQ) contract for work on advanced turbine technologies.
The mission is to develop, demonstrate and transition advanced turbine propulsion, power and thermal technologies, the Department of Defense said in a release.
This approach extends to a range of legacy, emerging and future military propulsion, power and thermal technology needs in multiple applications, the DoD said.
Work will be performed in Cincinnati and is expected to be completed by October 2026, the department said. GE Aviation is based in Evendale, just outside Cincinnati.
This award is the result of a competitive acquisition and 54 offers were received, the DoD said.
IDIQ contracts are often prized because the government can lock in prices for a period of time, and contractors retain employment for that period of time.
