Clinton tries to turn focus back to Trump and women

Published: Tuesday, November 01, 2016 @ 12:36 PM

With the controversy over the FBI investigation of her emails still overshadowing the campaign for President with a week to go until Election Day, Hillary Clinton for a second straight day tried to change the subject, this time using a stop in Florida to rally both women and Hispanic voters, arguing that Donald Trump is the wrong choice for them in November.

After targeting Trump's temperament on Monday, and raising questions about his fitness to run the military, Clinton focused more today on what Trump has said about women.

"We cannot hide from this; we've got to be willing to face it," Clinton said. "This guy wants to be President of the United States of America," she added, as the crowd hooted its displeasure.

On hand to help make that case was former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, who came to light in the debates, when Clinton brought up how Trump had called Machado, "Miss Piggy" and more, after she had gained weight.

"He thinks he can do whatever he wants and get away with it," Machado said, as she addressed the crowd in both English and Spanish.

"I could not be prouder to cast my first presidential vote for Hillary," Machado said.

Clinton did not repeat what she had done on Monday at a pair of rallies, when she opened with a defense of herself related to the FBI probe of her emails.

Instead she mixed the attacks on Trump's temperament with the past attacks on Trump over how he treats women, as the Clinton Campaign tries to turn the page to another subject.

"He has shown us who he is," Clinton said, "let us on Tuesday show him who we are."
