DETAILED FORECAST

The entire Miami Valley is under a marginal risk for severe weather today. A small portion of southwestern Butler County is part of a Slight Risk that stretches west into southern Indiana.

A line of thunderstorms is expected to develop west of the Miami Valley and move east into our area later this afternoon and evening. Some storms could produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds. A couple stronger storms may reach severe limits with the greatest risk being isolated damaging winds and small hail.

Severe storms northwest of Indianapolis prompted several tornado warnings around 2:40 p.m. and there were reports law enforcement spotted a tornado near New Ross and Crawfordsville.

A large, destructive tornado was also reported over Kokomo, Indiana. A Starbucks location was reportedly destroyed in the area.

Instability ahead of this line is limited, but there certainly could be enough to work with to keep these storms going.

Early indications showing the line reaching our northwestern counties around 6pm, but depending on the speed of this line it’s possible they could get here a little sooner.

Some showers and storms are still possible before the main line, especially across the northern Miami Valley for the first half of the afternoon. Showers and storms will work across the area overnight then ending before sunrise. Temperatures will climb into the lower 80s this afternoon.
