Power restored to some, but outages remain in Champaign Co.

Power has been restored to many in Champaign County, but some outages remain after early morning storms knocked out power to nearly 1,600 DP&L customers.

At 2:10 a.m. just under 100 customers in Champaign County were without power, according to DP&L’s online outage map.

No significant outages have been reported in other counties, or with other utility providers.

Nearly 1,600 DP&L customers are reporting power outages in Champaign County after a line of storms moved through the area.

Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini said the storms that moved through were under the severe threshold, but still produced a lot of lightning and heavy rain.

At 1:30 a.m. the online DP&L outage map showed 1,584 customers were in the dark.

No other significant outages were reported by Ohio Edison or Duke Energy.

It’s unknown when electric service might be restored.
