Year’s first heat wave arrives this weekend

Skies will become mostly clear with mild conditions, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell said. Temperatures will drop into the lower 60s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny skies will start the weekend with temperatures climbing into the middle 80s. An Air Pollution Advisory will be in effect.

Sunday: Sunny skies and hot conditions are expected as highs reach to near 90 degrees. An Air Pollution Advisory will be in effect.

Monday: Humidity with the heat will create steamy conditions under mostly sunny skies. Highs will reach the lower 90s with a heat index likely topping 95 degrees. An Air Pollution Advisory will be in effect.

Tuesday: It will remain hot and humid under partly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance for a pop-up, late-day storm. Highs will be in the lower 90s with a heat index between 95 and 100 degrees.

Wednesday: Scattered clouds are expected with a chance for a few showers or storms, mainly during the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 80s.
