Tackle trouble? Another Bengals lineman injured against the Lions

With 2015 first-round pick Cedric Ogbeuhi sidelined by a sore toe, Jake Fisher made the start at right tackle Thursday night against the Lions, but lasted just nine plays.

On the first snap of the second offensive series, Fisher suffered a sprained ankle and left the field on a cart. He had a walking boot on his right foot after the game.

Assuming Ogbuehi and Fisher are unavailable for the next game, the Bengals will head to Jacksonville on Aug. 28 with just three healthy tackles capable of playing opposite Andrew Whitworth – 10-year veteran Eric Winston and undrafted rookies Aaron Epps and John Weidenaar.

“I’ve never taped in my entire career, but the way these tackles are going down, I’m going to have to go out in a cast or something next week,” Whitworth said. “It’s part of football. I was telling one of the young guys that the other day. We’ve been fortunate that we’ve been really healthy the last couple of years, and that’s not usually the norm.

“Most of the teams in league fight injuries all year,” he added. “So, you know, maybe it’s a good thing they’re happening now instead of later.”
