Springfield’s Leonard Taylor decommits from Michigan

Springfield defensive tackle/tight end Leonard Taylor made waves in the local recruiting scene Monday when he announced his de-commitment from Michigan.

The 6-6, 258-pound Taylor is a composite four-star recruit per 247Sports and the No. 13 defensive tackle prospect in the country.

Taylor gave no indication where he might be leaning upon de-committing, but Ohio State is among the schools to have also offered him.

His commitment to Michigan in April was considered an early coup for Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh, whose first full-year recruiting class signed last winter had no Ohio natives.

Michigan still has a verbal commitment from Antwuan Johnson, four-star linebacker from Springfield who transferred to Dunbar over the summer, for 2018 and commits from defensive tackle James Hudson of Toledo Central Catholic and offensive lineman Joel Honigford of Sugarcreek Garaway for 2017.
