1 NFL division’s Color Rush uniforms rise above the rest

After another long, glorious weekend of football, it’s important to take some time to recharge.

Thursday night will be here soon, after all… and soon enough with teams wearing uniforms from Nike that might not look familiar to you.

Here’s an important ranking of the NFL’s “Color Rush” uniforms by division.

(The time between now and the next kickoff isn’t going to kill itself, is it?????)

Best: AFC East

The football might be bad in most of these cities, but they went 4 for 4 in uniform colors. All unique looks, and all favorable shades of one of their normal colors. Ten out of 10 stars. Would watch again.

Runner-up: NFC South

Although the Saints’ white uniforms actually look similar to a legitimate throwback, it’s tough to compete when only three of the teams are actually doing the whole color thing.

Honorable mention: AFC South

The blues of the Colts and Titans are sharp, while the Jags’, um, whatever color that is seems to be just weird enough to work. We marked off for the Texans’ uniforms looking black even though they are apparently dark blue.

Least unique (yes there are varying degrees of unique no matter what your English teacher told you): NFC East

Maybe it’s just me, but only the Redskins’ uniforms differ much from what they might wear on any other random Sunday. And that’s fortunate since it’s gotta be hard to get grass stains out of mustard.

One out of four ain't bad/almost honorable mention: AFC West

Aside from the awesome Broncos “Orange Crush” look that could be a throwback, are any of these much different from something the teams would normally wear at some point or another?

Most intrepid: AFC North

Quite a mix here as the Ravens throw caution to the wind by going full purple. Too bad it’s that shade (see the Vikings).

Meanwhile, the Browns show off something that should actually be their normal uniform (but they won't wear at all, ironically), the Steelers simplify their normal look and the Bengals go pretty much completely off script with a uniform that is not technically a color but has an actual design inspiration (based on tigers at the Cincinnati Zoo).

Most resembling a bruise: NFC North

Yes, the Vikings, are definitely wearing all purple, but unlike the Ravens it's that type of purple you can sit with. The Bears are all-in, too, with their classic shade of blue, but the Lions just appear to be committing the cardinal sin of Black For Black's Sake*.

Worst overall: NFC West

Let’s see, Slimer green, inside-of-a-diaper yellow and two BFBS (see NFC North*). Yep, send ‘em back.
