Marvin Lewis says Bengals need big-boy pads vs. Cowboys

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said during today’s press conference he is not the least bit surprised at the success Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott has had in the first quarter of the season.

“He’s everything we thought he would be,” Lewis said. “Fast, strong, great vision, great cutter, the ability to make people miss within the hole, speed to the perimeter, runs behind his pads. All the great qualities we watched up the road (at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis).”

Elliott enters Sunday’s 4:25 game against the Bengals leading the NFL in rushing yards (412) and carries (94).

The Cowboys also have Alfred Morris, who had 3,962 yards and 28 touchdowns for Washington from 2012-14.

“Both these runners run through a lot of contact, so we really have to have our big boy pads on and tackle.”
