A.J. Green welcomes son to world, set to play vs. Denver

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was back at practice today after missing Wednesday to witness the birth of his first child.

Green said earlier this month he would not play if the baby was born on a game day, but the midweek delivery means he is good to go for Sunday’s home opener against Denver despite being a bit bleary eyed and sleep deprived today.

“I got maybe like two hours,” Green said.

And that was after he was up, mostly, with his wife, Miranda, for 36 hours of labor.

“I have new different respect for women,” Green said. “I was just trying to be as nice as I could. I got yelled out a couple times for falling asleep because she couldn’t sleep, but I just got up and hung in there with her. So much respect for her. She was much tougher than I would be.”

Easton Ace, or “Eazy” as he’ll be known, was born at 4:48 p.m. Wednesday and weighed in at 8 pounds, 8 inches and was 22 inches long.

“It was unbelievable,” Green said. “To see him come out and know that you helped create that, it was unbelievable. It was very emotional, just how blessed we are to bring something like that into the world. I don’t even know what to say.”
