Ezekiel Elliott rankles Cowboys owner with trip to pot shop

Ezekiel Elliott made news on and off the field this week.

Prior to his successful preseason debut Thursday night against the Seahawks, the former Buckeye and current Cowboy was spotted making a legal-yet-questionable trip to a store that is still unique to much of the country.

That would be a marijuana dispensary.

TMZ published the video of the former Buckeye checking out the cleverly named Herban Legends, and the site was sure to point out there is no evidence he bought anything.

It also called the place a tourist trap, which should not be overlooked.

The visit still apparently upset Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, though.

He told The Dallas News, "In general while it may not be wrong, it's just not good."

Regardless of what Elliott does with his free time (and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer told Sports Illustrated last fall there was a period last summer when he was worried Elliott was partying too much), the owner has a point.

Per the laws of the state he was in, Elliott could have bought something, but using it could have cost him as far as his fledgling career and his image.

Maybe that’s not fair, but it’s part of the life of a star athlete. Getting burned by the spotlight is all too easy these days.

“That’s a part of just really getting the big picture,” Jones added.
