Dayton Flyers welcome Kostas Antetokounmpo to campus

The newest member of the Dayton Flyers, 6-foot-9 freshman forward Kostas Antetokounmpo, arrived on campus Tuesday night. Classes start today at the University of Dayton, and Antetokounmpo is expected to be added to the official roster on UD’s website today.

Antetokounmpo’s brother Giannis, a 6-foot-11 forward who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks, helped drive Kostas to Dayton. The two posed for photos at UD Arena with Archie Miller, towering over the 5-11 UD coach.

Both brothers were born in Greece. Giannis is nicknamed the Greek Freek. He averaged 16.9 points per game last season, his third in the NBA.

“Happy to welcome @Kostas_ante34 to town!” Miller wrote on Twitter. “Big thanks @Giannis_An34 for spending time with us while moving in!”

Antetokounmpo, who signed with Dayton in June, is one of two freshman in UD's 2016 recruiting class. Wayne grad Trey Landers, who enrolled at UD in June, is the other. Antetokounmpo, a native of Greece who graduated from high school in Milwaukee, played this summer for Greek's Under-20 national team.
