— The Cleveland Browns are ridding themselves of draft busts and players who won’t factor into the future.
Joe Haden was released on Wednesday morning. However, the Browns managed to get compensation for offensive lineman Cam Erving, sending him to Kansas City for a 2018 fifth-round pick on Wednesday.
Erving starred at Florida State after shifting to center midway through his final season. He played his way onto the All-American team and the Browns took him in the first round thinking he’d solidify the line.
That didn’t happen. Erving has underachieved since he arrived, and rumors came out on Tuesday that Cleveland was looking to trade him.
Erving had been phased out on a now deep Browns offensive line. He’ll get a chance to rejuvenate his career as a backup with the Chiefs.
