WATCH: Couples bark vows at mass pet wedding

A few dozen barking couples tied the knot at a mass pet wedding ceremony on the Saturday before Valentine’s Day in Lima's San Isidro district in Peru.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes, young and old, many of them dressed in wedding gowns and even wearing veils, came to the open-air ceremony.

The pampered pets got married during the "Pet Valentine 2018" event, surrounded by balloons and cakes festooned with bride and groom dog cake adornments.

The owners received a 'wedding certificate' from the district of San Isidro that included paw prints of the bride and groom.

The event is held annually to raise awareness for pet owners to be responsible.

The only requirement for participation is that the pets be either spayed or neutered.
