A West Carrollton police officer who oversees a community outreach program has been named that department’s 2017 employee of the year.
Bobbie Selmon is a coordinator for the Police Explorers. The program lets young adults to learn about law enforcement by working closely with officers to better understanding their role.
Under Selmon, a West Carrollton police officer since 2014, the program has grown from three to 14 active members, according to the city.
“She has had such a positive impact on the young men and women in that program, many of whom view her as a role model,” West Carrollton Police Chief Doug Woodard said.
Woodard said she also works with a number of other community outreach programs – including National Night Out – and led the department in offense reports taken for in 2017.
She was also among the leaders in recording crash reports, traffic citations, criminal charges and arrests, according to the city.
Selmon “is very thorough when it comes to investigating different cases,” Woodard said.
