Mild tonight, showers, storms possible Memorial Day

Conditions will be partly cloudy and mild through the evening as temperatures fall into the 70s.

“More clouds arrive towards Monday morning,” said McCall Vrydaghs, StormCenter 7 meteorologist. “Winds out of the southwest and the added cloud cover will keep our temperatures in the middle 60s through the overnight.”

Monday: It will be partly sunny, mild and breezy as winds will pump in more humid air through the day, Vrydaghs said.

Wind gusts could be as high as 30 mph in the afternoon. High temps will be in the low to mid 80s, but it will feel warmer with the humidity in place.

“The added moisture and some upper level energy should destabilize the environment enough to allow scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop, mainly into the afternoon and evening,” Vrydaghs said.

Severe weather is not expected, but heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning could create problems.

Tuesday: Showers and storms are expected to develop to our west in the early morning hours. These storms slowly move east into the Miami Valley by late morning and persist at times through most of the day. Highs for the day warm to near 80 degrees.

“There is a slight risk for strong to severe storms by Tuesday afternoon and evening,” Vrydaghs said. “Our biggest concerns will be high winds, heavy rain and lightning.”

Wednesday: It will be mostly cloudy, breezy and humid. There’s a chance for more scattered showers and storms as highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy conditions are expected with the continued chance for scattered showers and storms. It will be warm and humid with highs in the low 80s.

Friday: A mix of sun and clouds is expected with warm, humid air and highs in the mid 80s. A few showers and storms may develop into the afternoon.
