Victim killed in I-75 crash in Tipp City identified

MIAMI COUNTY — UPDATE @ 12:30 p.m.: 

The Miami County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal crash on Interstate 75 in Tipp City as Ibrahimi Abdelmaguid, 49, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

UPDATE @6:39 a.m.

One person died when two semi-tractor trailers collided on Interstate 75 in Tipp City during white-out conditions Thursday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, one semi rear-ended another semi, lost control and struck the median wall in the crash on southbound I-75. The driver of the at-fault semi was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. A passenger in the sleeper section was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi that was struck was not hurt.

Troopers said white-out conditions are to blame for the crash.

Interstate 75 is extremely slick with at least one fatal crash reported and multiple slide-offs.

A fatal crash was reported on southbound I-75 between the 69 and 70 mile markers in the Tipp City area shortly before 4 a.m., according to reports.

Our crew in the area said the highway is extremely slick, and video shows the highway is a sheet of ice. Anyone on highways should use extreme caution.

We are working to learn more about the fatal crash.
