Vehicle crashes into pole, no one injured

No one was injured when a vehicle went off Upper Bellbrook Road and hit a utility pole, breaking it off at its base.

Bellbrook Police were dispatched to 1306 Upper Bellbrook Road just after 2 a.m. Monday on a report of an electric pole hit by a vehicle and wires down across the roadway.

Upon arrival, police reported the pole was broken at the base, but was still upright and was being held in place by the power lines.

Dayton Power and Light was called to the scene, and cews closed Upper Bellbrook Road to allow DP&L to access the required repairs.

DP&L temporarily secured the pole and will return around noon today to replace the pole.

No injuries reported from crash at busy intersection

No injuries were reported from a two vehicle crash at a busy intersection.

Just after 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning, Riverside Police responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Woodman Drive and Airway Road.

Police learned upon arrival that no one required medical treatment from the crash and the damage was considered moderate.

The scene took approximately fifty minutes to investigate and clear before an all clear was given just before 11:00 a.m.

Details on the cause were not available at the time of the clean-up.

            10 injured in multi-vehicle crash in Greenville

Seven vehicles were part of a high speed chain reaction crash Thursday afternoon on Russ Road at Wagner Avenue in Greenville.

A total of 10 people were injured. Two refused medical treatment while eight were transported by life squad to Wayne Health Center.

Officer Flanner with the Greenville Police said initial reports indicated a black-colored car was traveling at a high rate of speed on Russ Road and slammed into the rear of a Pontiac Aztec at the Wagner Avenue intersection.

The impact forced the Aztec into another car which sent that vehicle across the road. The original black car then struck the car which the Aztec hit. A fourth vehicle then crashed into the rear of a vehicle, pushing it into two other vehicles.

Mutual aid was provided by Arcanum, Versailles and Ansonia.

The roadway was closed for about hour. The crash remains under investigation.

Cyclist struck, injured by car; CareFlight called

Careflight was sent to the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and State Route 121 after a bicyclist was struck by a car.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Darke County deputies along with Greenville Township Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a person on a bicycle struck by a car while both traveling northbound in the 5200 block of State Route 121 in Greenville.

Careflight was requested to the scene to transport the injured male rider, identified as 56 year-old Benjamin Flatter of Greenville, to Miami Valley Hospital. The female driver of a 2002 red Pontiac Sunfire, Tia williamson, 19, of Greenville, was not injured.

A Darke County Sheriff's deputy reported the car attempted to swerve left and pass the bike, but Flatter travelled left across Route 121 to enter a driveway and was subseqently hit.

The condition of Flatter was not released.

Law enforcement closed the intersection while the incident was cleared. The crash is under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.

Hydroplaning the probable cause for 2 crashes same area and time

2 seperate crashes on the same stretch of I-70 at the same time.
One person was taken to Soin Medical Center with minor injuries after hydroplaning and losing control on westbound I-70.
Around 3:00 a.m., Sunday morning, Enon Police were called to westbound I-70 on a report of a spin-off crash.
Enon Police were on another call so Clark County Sheriff's deputies responded.
Upon arrival at mile marker post 48, deputies discovered two seperate recent crashes.
Initial investigation stated both vehicles had seperately hydroplaned in the same area and spun-out to the left, colliding into the guard-rail.
A women in one of the vehicles sustained minor injuries.
The Ohio State Patrol, Springfield Township, Harmony Township and Enon Police all assisted in handling the incidents.
