Semi crashes off I-75 after driver falls asleep

The scene has cleared of a morning crash where a semi-tractor trailer jack-knifed off I-75.

The driver sustained minor injuries. He told authorities he fell asleep prior to crashing the semi about 200 yards off the highway.

FIRST REPORT

A semi-tractor trailer traveled about 200 yards off southbound I-75 Thursday morning after the driver fell asleep.

The driver of the semi told fire crews he fell asleep and went off the exit ramp to Wagner Ford Road. The semi jack-knifed and came to a rest in an embankment around 5 a.m.

The driver suffered minor injuries, and was trapped inside the vehicle until about 6 a.m.

All lanes of southbound I-75 are open. The exit ramp to Wagner Ford Road is restricted, but still open.
