WHIO-TV meteorologist leaving to embark on new career

DAYTON, Ohio -- True to her trade as a meteorologist, Kimberly Thompson called her stint at NewsCenter 7 a "whirlwind".

Wednesday, Thompson gave her last weather forecast over WHIO airwaves.

She's leaving the station to become a public relations manager for a company in Columbus.  She has been with WHIO-TV for three years.

Aside from handling the weekend weather duties, the 27-year-old Thompson also did some reporting for the Cox-owned station.

She told our partners at the Dayton Daily News, "I have had a chance to do a little bit of everything, and I have grown through the years. I'm sad to leave and I am going to miss everyone here and all of the viewers, but I am ready for a new adventure."

Thompson hails from Cleveland and began her career at WHIZ in Zanesville, Ohio.

She said that she could not have gotten her new job without the experience that she's had at WHIO.
