Volunteers ‘Rebuilding Together’ in Dayton

Hundreds of volunteers got together today to provide free home repairs for 20 homeowners in honor of Rebuilding Together Dayton’s 20th anniversary.

The organization assists older homeowners who aren’t able to complete or afford repairs but want to stay in their homes, according to a release from Rebuilding Together Dayton.

The group marked 20 homes in the Westwood area to get repairs. Improvements to the Wesley Center on Delphos Avenue was planned, as well as cleanup efforts for nearby alleyways and vacant lots.

A total of 600 volunteers from local companies, universities, high schools, churches and other organizations were expected to turn out.

The work involved was estimated to be a value of $300,000.

The local organization is affiliated with the national Rebuilding Together nonprofit organization, which works to revitalize and restore low-income communities, according to the release.
