I-75 reopens at Stanley Ave. after semi with potatoes crashes

Three people were injured in a crash that shut down portions of Interstate 75 early this morning.

The highway completely re-opened near Stanley Avenue just after 6 a.m.

Crews were dispatched around 1 a.m. after a semi hauling 43,000 pounds of potatoes crashed on the southbound side and broke through the cement divider. Two vehicles traveling north were involved when debris from the median was thrown into the northbound lanes.

Dayton police shut down all northbound traffic for more than three hours while road crews and tow trucks worked to remove the semitrailer from the median. Northbound traffic was reopened around 4:30 a.m. and police then shut down southbound traffic to continue cleanup.

Two people were trapped in a vehicle and police cut the doors off to free them.

The three people transported to Miami Valley Hospital suffered non-life threatening injuries.
