Four people are in custody following a pursuit in Dayton Wednesday morning, and the incident is connected to an earlier carjacking.

Those in custody are suspects in a Tuesday night carjacking at the BP gas Station at 500 Salem Ave. in which two children were let out of the car by the armed robbers. Dayton Lt. Mark Ponichtera said the children's father left the car, a Grand Prix, running with the children inside as he went to pay for the gas.

Around 5:30 a.m. this morning, a vehicle matching the description that Grand Prix was located at Superior Avenue and Bryn Mawr Drive. The carjacking suspects reportedly ditched the Grand Prix and got into another car — a white Pontiac Grand Am reported stolen out of West Carrollton.

Police pursued that vehicle and a high speed chase ensued down Salem Avenue and Edwin C. Moses Blvd. before the suspects crashed the second car on Washington Street around 5:45 a.m.

The two juveniles and two adults inside fled on foot but were apprehended and arrested by police. There names have not been released.

A gun was removed from the street near the crash scene and placed into an evidence bag.

We are waiting to get more details about the investigation and the names of those arrested.
