Our first spring snow fell on Monday, with some areas in the far northern Miami Valley picking up more than four inches of snow.
An accumulating snow is typical for this time of year. In fact, it’s not out of the question that we have snow falling into April. For perspective, just last year, 7.1 inches of snow fell in March and more than an inch feel in April.
The Dayton International Airport recorded at least a trace of snow during the month of March for the past 10 years. During that time period, the most snow recorded in March was in 2008 when 15.7 inches of snow fell. That was the second largest March snowfall on record; the third largest was in 2013 with 14.2 inches.
The largest March snowfall on record was in 1906 when 26.9 inches fell.
