NWS: Winds causing ‘Enhanced Fire Danger’ today

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a special weather statement because of the high winds this afternoon.

Wind gusts up to 35 mph are combining with dry conditions to ” produce an elevated risk for wild fires,” according to the NWS statement.

Residents in Southwest Ohio and the Miami Valley should avoid open burns today, NWS advises.

The high winds caused a controlled burn to get out of control in a field near the boy scout camp in Preble County.

Also in Fairborn, a flames that were centered on a rear deck spread to the home because of the winds.
