Why discolored water may flow from faucet

Residents in Washington Township and Centerville may see discolored water for the next month.

The Washington Township Fire Department is conducting spring fire hydrant testing and flushing to insure good water flow and water pressure in case of a fire.

The flushing helps clear the pipes of mineral deposits, which if allowed to accumulate, could affect water quality.

The flushing may cause water to appear brown as it flows from your faucet. The fire department suggests running cold water until it clears.

Avoid doing laundry until the water runs clear or you may risk stains.

The inspection process will occur again in the fall.
