DAYTON —

A University of Dayton graduate engineering student died Tuesday in an apparent suicide in downtown Dayton.

David S. Manthey, 23, of HIghlands Ranch, Colo., was a first-year student in the master's program in renewable and clean energy, according to a message sent to UD students and staff from school officials.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Major Darryl Wilson said Tuesday that it appeared that the individual jumped from the 9th story of the county parking garage at Fifth Street and Main streets.

Deputies are conducting an investigation into the apparent suicide.
