Two alarm fire destroys Greenville garage

Firefighters battled a two alarm fire in a detached garage overnight in Greenville.

Officials say calls came in from neighbors just before midnight Tuesday from the 600 block of Harrison Avenue for a garage heavily involved in flames. Mutual aid was requested from the New Madison Fire Department, as crews knocked down the flames relatively quickly.

Investigators have not identified a cause for the blaze, but do not believe this fire is suspicious.

No one was inside the garage at the time of the fire. damage estimate was not immediately available. Officials say the structure and the car inside the two-car garage are total losses.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, but officials say a firefighter slipped and fell on ice that formed from water runoff.
