Sheen addresses graduates at UD commencement

Over 1,400 University of Dayton graduates received degrees today in a ceremony at UD Arena, including an honorary degree for Ohio-native actor Martin Sheen.

Sheen addressed the graduates during today’s commencement ceremony which got underway at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. Sheen was given an honorary doctor of humane letters degree, in recognition of his lifelong commitment to peace, social justice, and human rights the university said in a statement.

Over 1,900 graduates participated in three separate ceremonies this weekend. 1,447 undergraduate students were granted degrees during Sunday’s ceremony. Nearly 500 graduates received graduate or law school degrees in ceremonies on Saturday at UD Arena.
