Rita’s gives away 2,000 free Italian ices to celebrate spring

Rita’s kicks off the first day of spring by giving away free Italian ice.

Employees said they gave away around 2,000 free Italian ices at the business, at 3371 E. Stroop Road.

This evening, the line extended out the front of the store as patrons waited for a free sweet treat.

Was it worth the wait? “Oh yeah, it’s very good,” said Bryce Simpson of Fairborn.

Bryce and his friend Asa Smith, also of Fairborn, both said spring is their favorite time of year as the grass turns green, baseball kicks off and they both celebrate their birthdays.

“Spring is about flowers growing and the sun coming out and getting free ice cream,” Asa said.
