Storm damage includes downed trees, wires

The weather system that hit the area Thursday afternoon from Wayne and Fayette counties in Indiana right through Preble and Montgomery counties in Ohio is producing lots of storm damage.

Some of the most significant storm damage includes as many as 17 power poles near state Route 122 in Preble County that were blown down and a huge tree on East Linden Avenue in Miamisburg that just missed a house when high winds knocked it down.

Here are some of the storm damage reports from police and fire radio dispatchers, National Weather Service storm spotters and residents living in the affected areas:

6:52 p.m.: Tree reported down on Frederick Pike and Beejay Court, Harrison Twp., Montgomery County.

6:18 p.m.: In Washington Twp., lines down across the road in the 6500 block of Imperial Woods Road as well as the 5000 block of Hugh and Glenmina drives. Trees reported down behind a house in the 300 block of Cherry Street, in the areas of McEwen Road, Spring Valley Pike, Brookmont Road and Terrace Park Drive.

6:03 p.m.: Tree down, blocking Night Hawk Trail in Washington Twp., Montgomery County.

5:42 p.m.: Large tree limb down in the roadway at 1458 Huffman Ave., near Gondert Avenue. RTA is being called to reroute traffic. Dayton Power & Light crews being dispatched.

5:39 p.m.: As many as 12 power poles have been snapped near state Route 122, just east of Cassel Road, Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson reports. State Route 122 has been shut down between Cassel and Camden roads, he said, noting “this will be a long-term closure.”

5:30 p.m.: Tree down and has damaged three cars at 125 E. Main St. in New Lebanon.

5:30 p.m.: Tree has brought down wires and crashed into a house in the 200 block of East Linden in Miamisburg.

5:24 p.m.: Wires reported down on Pinecrest Drive in Dayton. Wires also reported down on East Rahn Road in Kettering

5:20 p.m.: Wires reported down on Beehwood and Newport in Dayton

5:15 p.m.: Several limbs down on Heincke Road in West Carrollton

5:09 p.m.: Siding blown off a home on Dafler Road in West Alexandria, 5 miles east of Easton in Preble County

4:38 p.m.: Several large tress down at the Eaton County Club in Preble County

4:30 p.m.: Large tree limb snapped, a mile southeast of Richmond, Ind., in Wayne County

4:30 p.m.: Power poles snapped north of Eaton along hwy 122 - via EMA report

4:20 p.m.: Report of a tree down in Preble County at Maple and MaCabe Street in Eaton.

4:20 p.m.: 60 mph wind gust in west Alexandria (Preble). Siding lost on a home, large limbs down.
