Strong winds that accompanied a brief thunderstorm this afternoon damaged trees, utility poles and knocked power out for hundreds of people in the Miami Valley.

The storm brought heavy rains and gusty winds to the Dayton area around noon.

As the storm moved east out of the area, police and fire crews responded to multiple reports of wind damages.

A Fairborn resident reported seeing several trees knocked down in the area of Cottage Court.

A tree reportedly fell onto a house in the 3500 block of Sherwood Drive near Dayton.

At 3:30 p.m., Ohio Edison reported hundreds of people were without power in five Clark County locations.

Those outage locations included the area of Fairfield Pike and South Tecumseh Road, as well as Springfield Xenia and West Sparrow roads.

Dayton Power and Light reported 514 customers were without power in Montgomery County and only six, down from 163 customers, were out in Greene County.
