Snow showers move in tonight

Snow showers will develop to the west and move into the area late this evening and tonight, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek said.

“With a little help from Lake Michigan and some upper level energy, enough snow will fall to leave a minor accumulation in spots — generally under 1 inch,” Wirdzek said. “However, with temps dipping well down into the 20s, road issues may occur quickly.”

It will be windy as well as lows dip to near 20 degrees before sunrise.

Friday: "Roads may be slippery due to overnight snowfall, but a few flurries would be all that remains as far as snowfall," Wirdzek said.

Clouds give way for some afternoon sun, and it will be colder with highs in the mid-20s.

Saturday: Morning sun will be followed by increasing clouds later in the day. Highs will be near freezing.

“Some light snow will arrive after midnight, with a small accumulation possible,” Wirdzek said.

Sunday: There is still room for changes this far out, and models have a hard time handling this storm system, Wirdzek said, "however, it looks more likely that will will see a decent snowfall."

It’s too early to predict total accumulation, but for now Wirdzek said he expects light snow to be continuous in the morning, possibly picking up a bit into the afternoon.

“As of now, the storm track looks to be south of the area, keeping enough cold air in place to make this mainly a snow-maker. Snow would taper down by evening as the storm passes east,” said Wirdzek, adding highs would be near 30.

Monday: Leftover snow showers will be among issues on the roads for the morning commute. It will be breezy and much colder with highs in the mid-teens.

Tuesday: Scattered snow showers will be possible with a quick moving system. Highs will be in the mid-20s.
