Fire destroys Maryland Avenue garage in Dayton

An engulfed detached garage this afternoon was nearly burned to the ground when firefighters arrived.

Dayton crews were called at 3 p.m. to a fire in the 600 block of Maryland Avenue.

The flames caused some exposure damage to the garage next to it, and the neighbor told firefighters this is the second time the garage has burned down.

After firefighters were called to the garage, another caller reported a fire somewhere around Troy and Edmund streets a block away. No fire was found, and the smoke seen by the caller was likely due to the original fire.
