1 trapped in crash on U.S. 35 West

UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m.

The driver of a pickup truck lost control of the vehicle on U.S. 35 West, just west of the North Fairfield Road exit, leaving one of the passengers having to be extricated by firefighter/paramedics, Beavercreek Sgt. James Wuebben said.

There were at least three other people in the truck, but none — including the driver and the one who had to be extricated — suffered any serious injuries, he said.

The truck struck the concrete median wall and flipped before coming to rest on the roadway. There were no other vehicles involved, he said.

Police shut down the highway at least an hour because of debris and fluids that spilled from the truck, the sergeant said. The accident remains under investigation.

One lane is open and traffic is moving in the westbound lanes of U.S. 35 at Interstate 675.

FIRST REPORT

A crash this evening is blocking the westbound lanes of U.S. 35 at Interstate 675.

The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. on the highway near North Fairfield Road.

Witnesses said a pickup truck was on its side.

K.C. Weaver of Kettering said he did not see the crash, but that he was one of several motorists to help three women inside the truck.

“I stopped and I helped two of the ladies get out,” said Weaver, who added that other motorists were holding the doors open so the women could climb out the top. A third woman was not able to get out, he said.

We are on the way and will update this report as we learn details.
