Lightning may have sparked Brookville barn fire

A fire in a barn in Brookville may have started with a lightning strike on Thursday afternoon.

About 12:15 p.m., about 10 emergency responders from several area agencies were dispatched to a working fire in the 7200 block of Number 9 Road. Marshall Gorby of the Breaking News Team sent back this view of the scene. Fire officials say the barn is a total loss, along with about a dozen Rhode Island Red chickens.

According to the homeowner, there is no electricity to the barn, and firefighters are looking for the cause. They are not ruling out a lightning strike because a storm was rolling through the area about the time of the fire.
