Suspect indicted in double shooting on N. Woodward

UPDATE @ 3:30 p.m. March 27:

The Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted Jeffrey Vinson on Friday with four counts of felonious assault in connection with a double shooting on Woodward Ave. on February 22.

He remains in Montgomery County Jail. There are no court dates listed on the online jail site.

UPDATE @ 5 p.m. (Feb. 26):

Jeffery Vinson Jr. has been arrested in connection with the Woodward Avenue double shooting, which occurred Sunday, a Dayton police spokesperson said, adding that the SOFAT Task Force apprehended the suspect. Vinson, who is being held in the Montgomery County Jail, is charged with two counts of felonious assault.

Vinson reportedly shot two men during an altercation at a house in the first block of North Woodward Avenue early Sunday morning. Both victims survived.

UPDATE @ 5 p.m.:

A 42-year-old man is in surgery at Miami Valley Hospital hours after a double shooting in Dayton, hospital workers said.

No further details of his injuries are available at this time.

He and a 21-year-old man were involved in an altercation in which both suffered gunshot wounds, according to the Dayton police report.

Both were initially taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, and the older man was transferred to Miami Valley.

The younger man is no longer listed as a patient at either hospital.

One of the men shot suffered a serious injury, police said at the scene.

Police have not announced any arrests in the case.

UPDATE @ 8 a.m.:

Dayton Police say two men were shot Sunday morning after an altercation.

Officers say one of the victims was badly injured, but the condition of both victims remains unknown.

The incident remains under investigation by Dayton Police.

FIRST REPORT

Police have responded to a reported shooting on North Woodward Avenue in Dayton.

Officers were dispatched around 5 a.m. Sunday to the first block of North Woodward Avenue on reports of two men shot. Initial reports indicate that those two men were driven from the scene to Good Samaritan Hospital before police arrived on scene.

The conditions and injuries sustained by the victims were not immediately known.
