Trotwood woman pleads not guilty in stabbing death

By Sandy Collins

A Trotwood woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday morning in the stabbing death of her boyfriend last summer.

Chantell Spears was arraigned and her bond set at $1 million. Spears was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault.

Prosecutors say Spears tracked Delshaun L. Jones using a GPS device to a home in Moraine on the evening of July 21, 2013. Outside the home, Spears allegedly stabbed Jones in the chest and drove away. Jones died at the hospital.

The prosecutor's office described the relationship between Spears, 39, and Jones, 32, as "on-again/off-again."

She's been incarcerated since July 24, 2013, jail records show. She is expected back in court on May 13 at 9:30 a.m.
